Our Story
Kings Youth Development Charitable Trust grew from something we were seeing repeatedly in our own community: young people wanted to participate, families wanted opportunities for their children, and sometimes cost or circumstance simply got in the way. We also saw how much young people can gain when they’re given somewhere positive to belong, adults who believe in them, meaningful challenges and opportunities to succeed. The Trust was established to help bridge that gap.

Our Long-Term Vision for Northland
Kings Youth Development is based in Bream Bay, with a long-term ambition to expand opportunities for young people throughout Northland. Our focus is on building sustainable pathways that keep participation, development and leadership opportunities close to home.
Local & Community-Grown
Our work is grounded in the specific needs of young people in Bream Bay and wider Northland, with programs shaped around local communities, schools and whānau.
Practical & Barrier-Free
We remove real-world financial and practical barriers so young people can participate in structured sport, wellbeing and mentoring, regardless of circumstance.
Connected & Collaborative
We build partnerships with schools, sporting clubs, iwi, community organisations, coaches and other sporting disciplines to create joined-up regional pathways.
Accountable & Resilient
We are a separate charitable trust with transparent governance and reporting. We distinguish clearly between Kings Boxing Gym, Trust-funded programs, proposed initiatives and long-term facility aspirations, including any future regional multi-sport training and athlete development facility, which remains an aspiration rather than an approved or funded project.
Help create opportunities for local young people.
Kings Youth Development Charitable Trust relies on grants, sponsorships, donations and community partnerships to remove barriers and create positive opportunities for young people. Your support can help fund youth participation, school-holiday projects, equipment, mentoring and practical assistance where cost or circumstance would otherwise stand in the way.
